We have mixed feelings about this hotel. The problem started when we arrived and asked to stay three nights instead of one. We were told we could stay only one more night but would need to change rooms.
The first room was spectacular, with recently updated modern finishes and two balconies, one facing Mt. Etna. It was one of the nicest rooms we have ever had. The second room was not good. It was much smaller, had the old dated finishes, including a stained wood counter in the bathroom and no views at all. And the kicker was the rooms cost the same. It left a very bitter impression for us.
Otherwise, one of the ladies at the front desk was very helpful arranging a beautiful tour to three local wineries. And the rooftop breakfast is first rate. The drinks and cicchetti on the roof are also great, with views of Mt. Etna with the sun setting behind it.
The lesson here is to make sure you ask for a room with views of Etna, or at least in the updated portion of the hotel.
