Extremely noisy but confortable beds
I chose this hotel because of the good reviews. However, II really don’t understand why the reviews are so good: 1) Safety: the rooms don't have any safety deposit boxes. Moreover, the elevator can be operated without a door card, which means pretty much anyone can get up to the floors. I ended up carrying my valuables with me when leaving the hotel. 2) Noise: the door to the room is too small for the doorway, leaving a gap where not only the light but also all the noise from the corridor comes in. When people were talking in the corridor, it actually sounded as if they were inside the room. This was especially annoying in the morning, cause the cleaning staff have a walkie talkie attached on their trolley with the sound on max. After two nights of waking up far earlier than expected, I bought earplugs. 3) Sustainability: the breakfast is pretty good for North American standards but each breakfast produces like half a pound of trash (paper and plastic). Not only the plates, the cups and the cutlery are made of either plastic or paper but also most of the food is wrapped in plastic, even the boiled eggs. In addition, a breakfast hostess moves around the tables with a plastic bag, urging the customers to throw their trash while they're still eating, which feels pretty stressful and intimidating. I ended up having my breakfast in the room. Two good aspects: the bed is comfortable and the gym has a good selection of free weights, up to 75 lbs.
