The hotel offered a simpler standard than expected, with an acceptable breakfast but nothing extra. At check-in, we were informed that the city tax had to be paid in cash. We didn’t have cash, so we paid 36 Euros the next day, but didn’t get a receipt—a mistake on our part.
Two days later, at check-out, we were asked to pay the tax again, now with card payments accepted. I explained we had already paid and left. Later, my husband returned to retrieve his sunglasses and was asked again to pay the tax. He reiterated it was already paid.
That evening, I received a message from the hotel’s management, accusing me of not paying the tax and threatening to report me for fraud. I responded with details of the payment, but they claimed inconsistencies and maintained we hadn’t paid. They said they would review surveillance footage and later sent a brief apology but didn’t address my questions about the payment method discrepancy.
This treatment was completely unacceptable. I felt insulted and violated. From previous reviews, it seems the hotel has engaged in similar behavior before. I cannot recommend this accommodation due to their unfriendly and accusatory treatment. If you choose to stay here, ensure you receive a receipt for any payment.
I have contacted Hotels.com and filed a complaint about this incident
