Our experience at this hotel was unacceptable. After switching from the Hyatt Regency due to a lack of available rooms, we had high hopes for the Thompson, but we were severely disappointed. The location felt unsafe, with noise from people lingering in the alley and dumpsters all night.
While check-in staff were friendly, their restaurant suggestions were closed. The room itself was noisy from a malfunctioning air conditioner that was also leaking, and it wasn't clean. When we sought dinner recommendations, the staff couldn’t suggest a single restaurant, and there was no concierge available at 6 PM.
The rooftop bar experience was equally terrible. After waiting 20 minutes for drinks, we were charged $10 for a bottle of Topo Chico when we only wanted a glass of soda.
In the morning, the valet quoted us $60 for a taxi to the airport, but the cab’s window showed a rate of $45. When we tried to pay, the driver insisted on the $60, claiming it was a special rate from the hotel. This entire stay was a complete failure.
