We were met with an attitude from the beginning - We politely asked if the hotel could store our bags for us since we were not allowed to check in early. They replied we could just leave our bags in the lobby. We were confused since it was already so many bags in the lobby and the open common areas. I asked if there was any secure way to store them (a locked room, a tag system, etc). The receptionist in a derogatory manner told me that this was not a five-star hotel and I had to stay in one of those accommodations for that kind of service.
During the evening we asked for some tips for our departure the next day - We asked which boat we had to take to the train station, and how we could pay for a ticket. However, he did not say anything or even look at us, even though it was clear he heard us and was not busy helping anyone else. He said something in Italian and after a while his colleague, a few meters away sitting on his chair, started asking us what we wanted. We politely tried to ask for help again and were basically met with sighs and eye rolls. In the end, we did not get the help we needed.
I was so confused by the whole experience since I do not believe we did anything to offend them, and they met us with nothing more than disrespect.
Besides this - The room was dirty, old, and gross. The third bed was an 80 cm wide pull-out sofa which was leaning and you could feel the springs poking you in the back. I would not stay here again even if someone paid me!!
