I must recomend this hotel and the beutiful town it is situated in!
The views are astoundishing over the mediterranian and the towns further down in the valley, with touristy and busy Taormina being the closest. Many people chose Taormina, but it is a mistake not to drive the extra kilometers to Castelmola; the most beautiful and pictouresque town on top of the mountain.
Villa Regina is a little hard to find, it is just behind the bar on the main square, just stop at the square and enter the bar where the reception is located.
Staff are absolutly wonderful and always has a welcoming smile.
The rooms are simple but beautifully decorated, and breakfast is served just a minutes walk away at the bar on the main square, with the same magnificent view as you have from the balcony. The breakfast was very good and rich.
By another square in Castelmola lies four or five restaurants and a bar, climbing up the storeys of the buildings as the space is cramped. The first night we had pizza on the square, and what I presume was the owner played guitarr and sang traditional italian songs throughout the evening, a very charming experience.
I will be returning to Castelmola, and when I do, I will be staying at the Villa Regina again!
