…unless you are willing to try to sleep thru a “concierto” from thousands of cikadas and crickets.
This hotel is located in a small pinje forest, that in summer is occupied by a massive amount of insects that produce an incredibly strong “buzzing” noise - that will make resting and sleeping extremely difficult.
Locals explained to us, that it would be the same all summer; “cikadas by day, crickets by night – same noise level”.
Even when inside our room, the outdoor noise still sounded like a compressor was running on low revs – somewhere inside the room! We decided not to risk sleepless nights and instead found a fantastic hotel in Alghero. Of course, this meant paying for two hotels, using only one.
We had booked a non-refundable stay at CR. Still, I wanted to offer the hotel management an opportunity to earn some goodwill, by somehow compensating us for the inhabitable room. They admitted the facts but declined. Before booking, I had read a number of reviews at hotels.com. They were almost all very positive - mainly from springtime or autumn stays. NOT ONE of them mentioned the terrible noise.
During our time in Sardinia, we encountered “background sound” from cikadas in several other locations, but never anything even NEAR the decibel level at Corte Rosada.
Just stay away from this in summertime!
