After reading other reviews, I was a bit anxious about staying at Hyatt Place. After staying there, I must say I was very impressed.
The hotel is perfectly located just a block or so from the Empire State Building, and the nearest subway station (34th Herald Sq) is just around the corner.
The room was spacious and comfortable. It was a bit worn out in some places, but I think this is to be expected for such a busy city with a high throughput of guests. The shower was very good, and there was never an issue with hot water.
Check in was fast and simple, especially having prepaid through Hotels.com. The staff were friendly and courteous.
Housekeeping was very good, and the staff were friendly and chatty. I would have preferred a system to reuse towels, rather than fresh each day.
Included breakfast was a big plus for this hotel. The breakfast buffet was ample, with a good selection of hot food (waffles, sausages, hash browns and eggs), fresh fruits, breads and cereals. Don’t expect a continental style breakfast with cold cuts and cheeses, this is an American style breakfast. The kitchen and restaurant staff were amazing. The food was constantly refilled on the buffet so nothing ran out. There can be a bit of a queue at busier times (8:30am - 9:00am), but we never needed to wait more than a minute or so for a table to become available.
Overall I was very happy with my stay here, and I would stay again in my next visit.
