Overpriced and needs lots of improvements
I have been coming to Hayman Island for 30+ years and stayed in a variety of rooms over the years. The beach villa we stayed at has been slightly renovated, but is still tiered. The wall switches for the electric blinds and fans work only intermittently. . There were other peoples bags in our room when we arrived which was very “off putting” and each time we wanted ice it took 3 times to get it. We tried calling, emailing and texting (even going to reception to ask for it in person).They were very apologetic, but it just kept happening. On New Years Eve we wanted room service and the app just didn’t work properly. We had to order each meal separately and they arrived 20 mins apart, so my partner finished his meal before mine even arrived! On New Years Day we couldn’t even get a glass of champagne bc they said they don’t serve alcohol before 11am!?! Really? Our mini bar wasn’t replaced each day, and back in the day, it was all inclusive in that particular villa except the alcohol! The main pool area is very tired and for such an exclusive hotel needs a facelift! The best part of our stay (besides the Whitsundays itself) was the spa and hair salon which had great staff and service. For a room that was nearly $2k per night, I would assume the airport transfers would’ve been included, instead they charged us $440 PER person! My memories of Hayman island were overshadowed by all of these poor incidents. Our experience from all these poor incidents was a complete let down :-(
