Came in April, was a real delight. Returned due to good experience but in August was completely different. Reception lady, Agnes, extremely rude and dismissive on check in, like she couldn't wait to get rid of us. Seemed like the staff were bored of tourists and wished the season would end. For £150 a night in a room you would normally pay half that price for, I expect to feel welcome and I expect to feel you will make up that lack of value elsewhere. You were appalling from inception to denouement. You did not deliver anything near a "good" experience. Buffet dinner was unreal in April, but overcooked and tasteless in August. For £50 I would have hoped for more. Chef stands with the meat, I ask him about it and he replies "it is self service, take what you want" in April, I had a good chat for a few minutes with a different chef about how he slow cooks his lamb and how it was local. I felt like your hotel actually cared. This time was literally opposite. Your waiting staff, however, were polite - I will say that.
Upon departure, IF Agnes had done her job and asked if I had enjoyed my stay, I would have been able to express all of this to her. But instead I was given a curt goodbye. No inquiry as to my satisfaction. No interest in my experience. I would avoid this hotel, unless you like being taken advantage of. There are far better options. Don't pay > $200 a night to feel as regretful as I do that I ever set foot in this place.
