A great little hotel.
In short, this is a great little hotel with the best owners I have ever met. Let's start with the few negative things about Villa Coral: The hotel is situated in a neighborhood where people let their dogs run loose so if you're afraid of dogs this is not the hotel for you as you have to walk through this to get down to the beach and the restaurants. It is also situated quite a bit from the beach and on a hill so it's a bit of a walk, especially on the way back to the hotel which is uphill. With the negatives out of the way let's go to the positives: The owners and staff are extremely helpful and serviceminded. They can help you with almost anything you need. We had a small incident when we were there but the owners went above and beyond to help us. The rooms are clean and large. We had the apartment which was really big and had everything you needed. On the roof of the hotel there is a small relaxing area (a few chairs) with a great view, watching the sunrise/sunset from the roof can be really beautiful. The beaches on this part of Vieques were very empty and unexploited when we were there and the seas are often calm so it was great for our six-year old daughter. In short, this is a great hotel if you are ready to walk a little bit and not afraid of dogs.

Relaxing stay in Vieques
We stayed at Villa Coral (Esperanza) for one week. It is a very nice place to stay at for a good price. In 15 minutes you can walk to Esperanza beach with quite many restaurants and in 30 min (follow the road) to 45 min (continue along the seashore from Esperanza beach, really nice walk!) you can get to Sun Bay Beach. We spent most of the time just resting there under the palms and swimming in the warm water. We recommend you rent a car for some days to see the island and the hotel staff will be very helpfull with making any calls if it's otherwise expensie for you (as for us from Europe).

Unfortunately Overpriced
The guesthouse was extremely basic, and didn't feel particularly safe/secure, so $150/night turned out to be hugely overpriced for the room. There were no hand towels or washcloths; only 2 bath towels and 2 beach towels. A couple of things in the room were broken. The front door of the house is open 24/7, with lock-boxes for the room keys outside each individual room in the hallway. So in the middle of the night, the hallway was very loud when other guests were entering their rooms. It also sounded like a It felt like a hostel, with the exception that it was not a shared room.

Uncleanly and unprofessional
Room/apartment does not look like the pictures. It was not cleanly - stains on the sheets, dust/grime in the corners, dishes not done, rust on appliances. There was no WiFi available. The staff was unprepared and tardy. There was no shelf or rack for towels in the bathroom.

We stayed at Villa Coral on our recent visit to Vieques. It was nice to be in a neighborhood, within walking distance of the Boardwalk, and also removed and in a quiet place. The rooftop balcony is not elegant, but the view is great.

The place is so dirty with bugs everywhere! There’s no hot water, bugs and cockroaches everywhere, and the room smells like mildew! The bed, chairs, and bathroom are all old and dirty. Thank goodness we only spent one night there; avoid Villa Corral at all costs!

Our stay at this property was disappointing due to several issues: 1. No Hair Dryer or Hot Water The room did not have a hair dryer, and there was no hot water available throughout our stay, which made it very inconvenient. 2. Lack of Basic Supplies The toilet paper roll was nearly empty when we arrived, and no refills were provided. 3. Excessive Humidity The room was extremely humid. After participating in a bioluminescence activity, we were unable to dry our wet clothes overnight—even hanging them on a chair only made them wetter. Without a hair dryer or proper ventilation, we were forced to wear damp clothes while traveling. The humidity also affected the bedsheets, which felt damp and made it hard to sleep. 4. Unhelpful Property Manager We contacted the property manager for assistance, but they were unable to provide any solutions to these issues. Overall, the poor conditions and lack of responsiveness made our stay uncomfortable and frustrating. I would not recommend this property to others unless these issues are addressed.

Decent but can do better
It’s an okay stay, for the price and is in a good location ( Esperenza). The drive from ferry terminal is about 20 min. The rooms are really small and can work for a short stay. It’s clean and they do offer laundry service for a fee. The common outdoor patio is okay and offers some space to heat up food and hang dry clothes. There is a small fridge in the room. However, the rooms were not equipped during our stay. There was no coffee filter, the coffee wasn’t good, the body wash bottle in the bathroom didn’t function. There is a wash basin in the room right next to the bed, and the room can get wet quite fast. Walk to Sun bay beach is about 30 min. Quite close to Bio Bay pick up point.

The property itself was beautiful. We did experience a few issues. There were cockroaches in the room, the room also wasn’t swept clean there was sand from the previous stay still on the floor. There was also hair on the pillow shams, and between the fitted sheet and flat sheet. So the sheets and pillow shams/cases may not be changed after each stay which we weren’t pleased about either. Aside from that the AC was cold, beautiful property, oh… the front desk wasn’t ever open, and upon arriving no one was there for check in.
