Mixed feelings about this hotel- the staff is amazing, rooms are large for NYC and nice and well appointed. Great quality shampoo/lotion etc in rooms. The hotel is large and has lots of great amenities- on property spa, fitness center plus free access to Lifetime fitness across the street , dry-bar, nice bar /lounge area to work or drink and relax with table service , room service 24/7, on site restaurants. And the location is great. What is not good: the building is old (clearly renovated but the HVAC and windows show their age- the HVAC spit some sort of soot or mold onto my suitcase and clothes- and into the air I was breathing. The fitness center in the hotel has no windows and apparently poor ventilation (smelled of sweat when I walked in- could remedy this by walking across street to lifetime); the smell of burgers cooking on a grill (from the burger joint restaurant on site and below) was so overwhelming in my room (opening window made it worse- apparently the restaurant may be venting to the space my window faced)- but they moved me to 20th floor and that helped. In short- not sure I would stay here again. But it is a really nice hotel other than the noted issues. The Thompson in Nashville is fabulous and this one is not nearly as good (to be fair the Nashville one is in a new building).
