A brief history of Rue d'Antibes?

Rue d'Antibes is in the heart of the downtown-Croisette district and bears the name of the city of Antibes, where it leads. This busy thoroughfare dates back a few hundred years and is listed in a site of cultural heritage and cultural importance in the seaside of Cannes. This street has been so crucial to the development of modern Cannes that by the early 20th century, before 1915, it had seen almost 120 buildings constructed along this street alone. Over the years, it gradually developed into a high-end, upscale cultural hub with many shopping and dining establishments.

Today, many of the buildings have seen a renovation, and some of the top retailers in the city moved in to offer experiences that are upscale in feel and sensibility, if not in cost. This street offers elegant stores with everything from clothes to secondhand goods to souvenirs that won't break the bank.

What else is good to know about Rue d'Antibes?

Rue d'Antibes stretches for a total length of 11 km and is a lovely shopping street with a casual but upscale vibe that's welcoming to all. If you're looking for the actual high-end luxury shopping experience, a few stores on this street may apply, but the biggest concentration of expensive shopping boutiques is one street over.

While much of Cannes is pedestrian-friendly, this street is not pedestrian-only, and it can get congested with automobile traffic at times. Most of the stores here are quite accessible to people with disabilities as a great deal of the street has been renovated and modernised. Aside from service animals, this is not a place to bring pets, as it's very much a retail and commercial district.
