Chose CQ St Paul as I had stayed at other CQ hotels before and was satisfied. This was a different experience.
We stayed the first week of December 2022.
First, the room they put us in was freezing and we had to change rooms as the heating system was out of order. In the new room, after 30 mins and 2 calls to reception, our new room had functioning heating. upon return, the room was around 30C. We were unable to achieve a room temp below 24C, despite open windows (=noisy) at any point afterwards.
Second, The hotel only offers travel between floors on 2 lifts. These are incredibly slow and cumbersome. Once we waited for 10 minutes to get down to breakfast before taking the emergency exit, which leads you into a back alley, and you have to walk around to get back into the hotel ground-level reception.
Third, the water pressure in the showers is beyond comprehension. An old man weeing will have more water pressure than this shower. I paid to go to an external health club only to be able to actually clean myself.
Further, the hotel breakfast was probably one of the dullest I've had. If you want to spend £15 (min. spend), you are much better off crossing the street for Café Rouge, or basically any of the nearby cafés.
All in all, neither I or my wife will be staying here again for business or pleasure.
On the plus side, St. Pauls is a nice building.
We will not be returning.
