The block in K-Town is vibrant and lively, and has all the sights, sounds and smells one could hope for. It is also centrally located in NYC near the Empire State Building. The hotel is a little sparse/bare-bones, but we had the top-most floor ("penthouse" +/-) that had its own outdoor patio, though again sparse/bare-bones. That wasn't the issue - the issue was they had no hot water. Not only that but they didn't have it the day before, and didn't bother to inform us of that when we checked in. Sorta dishonest. So we asked, and were told by the time we got back that night someone will have fixed it. Not the case. Asked again, was told it would be by morning time. Morning came, no hot water, but it will be fixed in two hours. Three hours later (about 15 hours after checking in) they finally admitted they needed a major overhaul of their boiler and they had no idea whatsoever when it might be fixed - as it was a Saturday, it might be Monday before it was. We checked out early and at my insistence they refunded 50% of the previous night's charges. It's one thing to be the victim of circumstances (who knows, maybe the water bill was unpaid - can't believe anything at this point), and another to be misled throughout the process, while they take your money and you can't even wash up or shower.
