Emailed the hotel in advance to ask for a clothing iron, never got an answer nor an iron. Never stayed at a hotel where I'm asked to take the elevator down to the basement to reach my room. We stayed in the room furthest down the aisle to the left. When opening the door the heat was way up and the window reaching out to the pavement outside was closed. Heat on max in July? The towels were worn out and yellowy, so were the bedsheets. Also there is no shower curtain and you use the shampoo in the shower to wash your hands since there's no soap on the sink. We opened the window when going to bed since there's no AC. Yay, where the lucky guest that got the window right underneath the bar! Smoke was blowing into the room and it was way too loud, closing didn't really make a difference since we were two meters away from the guest. At 2am they usually left. But oh wait, every morning at 7am you are woken by a heart attack when the garbage truck arrives (again two meters away from where we are sleeping) to collect the garbage and glass bottles from the previous evening! To make things clear, we're a couple in our 20's who wanted to stay at a good location in Amsterdam and we weren't planing to hang out too much at the hotel, just get a good nights sleep. The location is good, but I've sleept better in dorm room hostels. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay less central and rent a bike, that's my recommendation!
