Spent A LOT of time to choose the perfect hotel in Rome for a three days visit in January for our family. When arriving at Palazzo Navona we were told that they had som problem with the electricity at some of the floors, and that they therefore moved us to another hotel. The girl in the reception told us that we should be happy as the other close by hotel was in a class higher.
The problem, I told her, was that I booked this hotel after looking at almost all reviews there is, and pictures, for this hotel and also many others in the area, and found Palazzo Navona the best for us for many reasons. I could have booked this other hotel, which was almost the same price as when I booked Palazzo Navona with the possibility to cancel, if I had wanted. The girl in the reception seemed like she thought I was stupid, and said that there was nothing she could do.
The other hotel was totally different from what we wanted, but after having spent about three hours to get our (three) rooms, we could anyhow start enjoying our stay in Rome. But this was not the start of our weekend trip I wanted.
I noticed weeks before our trip that Palazzo Navona was fully booked for our days. Was there a overbooking? Anyways, I am really disappointed in the way the hotel handled this.
