Avoid Chungking Mansion!
We were after a budget stay but it was not worth it. Chungking Mansion is a notorious place in Hong Kong. To enter the building one has to walk past many groups of men, asking if you want to buy drugs. I felt really unsafe and would not go back to the room without company. We did not feel safe during the night either. There was only a basic lock to the room and there were loud noises during the night.
The rooms are tiny, we could barely fit the suitcase under the bed. It was almost impossible for two people to move in the room at the same time. The "bathroom" is tiny.
There are many better options available in Hong Kong. Either pay a little more for a descent place or go for a less central location. The MTR system is very efficient so it is alright to stay in less busy areas too.
