Time have been rough on HCC Regente. It really needs refurbishing. It feels like going back to the 90s. The staff is nice but not very knowledgeable. Breakfast 14€ is alright but, as goes for the rest of the hotel, nothing that you'll put on your Instagram. I paid 16€ for an upgrade to a better room with views to the Rambla and I guess the views are ok, we're in Barcelona, yes, most everything is pretty, but the room not so much.
The rooftop pool is actually more of an over-sized bath tub with a couple of sun beds. The roof top bar is more of a café. Don't eat up there, it's a micro wawe kind of menu.
Views are nice though, and I was virtually alone up there so nice.
Wifi in the room very slow boarding to non-existent. So don't stay here if you need to work (or watch Wimbledon).
The regents is not modern, not 4 star, not very good at all. The location is great though if you're in Barcelona for the first time, close to La Rambla, Pca Catalunya, Sagrada Familia... for the more experienced traveller, there are several better options.
