Hollywood Road is one of the oldest streets on Hong Kong Island – it stretches between Sheung Wan and Central, where you’ll find the historic Man Mo Temple and Central Police Station. The road is famous for many things, and one of the best things to do here is shopping for antiques and art.

The surrounding Central area is known for its gleaming shopping malls, but Hollywood Road has an excellent collection of antique stores and art galleries, with most of them centred on and around the Cat Street Market.

You can find the bustling Cat Street by taking a detour off the main Hollywood Road, on to Ladder Street, before taking another left onto Upper Lascar Row. This popular flea market is where you’ll find the highest concentration of antique stores, which offer just about everything from ancient Chinese artefacts and Ming vases, to furniture and paintings.

Head down Hong Kong’s Hollywood Road into the more central SoHo district to find more shops, all alongside some of the city’s top restaurants, cafes and bars. The shopping options here include more antique stores, as well as a few vintage stores selling clothing and household items.

You can get to Hollywood Road by taking the MTR to Sheung Wan or Central Station. It’s within walking distance of most hotels around the Soho, Lan Kwai Fong and Central area. Most of the shops open at mid-morning and close around 10pm.

Hollywood Road remains buzzing until way past midnight, thanks to the many late-night cafes, cocktail bars, and trendy restaurants lining this popular street. Note that exploring the steep streets can take a toll on the legs, so stop by at a tea shop or bar for some refreshments during your visit.
