Sanfong Central Street in Kaohsiung sells all kinds of dried foods while Dihua Street in Taipei sells goods from the North and South. It's from which the saying, "Dihua Street in the North and Central Street in the South" is derived. Sanfong Central Street has always been a place for Kaohsiung people to buy dried foods at favourable prices, ranging from seafood, high-grade ingredients, and sweets. Many people flock to this street on important festivals, such as the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Ghost Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival.
Even so, Sanfong Central Street experienced declining business opportunities due to inconvenient parking after the transfer of Kaohsiung's business districts, which put many merchants into a crisis after years of business. Sanfong Central Street saw the reflux of customers and gradually returned to its former glory after the local government's re-planning project to cover the street with roofs and redesign the image and traffic pattern of the business district.
