The Jewish Museum of Florida Miami–FIU delves into the rich history of the Jewish community with a collection of 100,000-plus items. Established in 1995, it is the only museum to provide a comprehensive look into more than 250 years of Jewish history, arts, and culture in Florida.

Located on Washington Avenue in the SoFi area of South Beach, the museum spans 2 historic former synagogues with the Bess Myerson Gallery at the centre. Interesting to note is the second structure was built in 1935 by famed Art Deco architect Henry Hohauser. The striking interiors boast a copper dome, 80 stained glass windows, and a marble bimah.

Jewish Museum of Florida–FIU highlights

The Jewish Museum of Florida–FIU became part of Florida International University in 2012. The main exhibition, "MOSAIC, Jewish Life in Florida 1763 to Today," originally started as a statewide grassroots effort of collecting objects and oral histories. In 2020, the exhibit expanded to commemorate the museum’s 25th anniversary. Through exhibits, the museum taps into the shared immigrant experience and multicultural society.

The museum presents programming throughout the year, including family activities, workshops, lectures, and enriching experiences, such as the South Beach Jewish Walking Tour and the recent exhibit, "Will Eisner: Comic Creator, Illustrator and Innovator."
