Hotel Le Cloitre St Louis is both a great experience and a really nice place to stay. It's located right by the train station and in one end of the largest and busiest street of Avignon, Rue de la République - so very easy getting around and close to restaurants, shops ans sites.
The hotel itself is amazing, with a fantastic couryard and beautiful spaces. We spent a lot of time by the rooftop pool overlooking the belltower of the old monastery, great spot to wind down after a day in town. Our room was two floors (!) in the old part of the hotel, right beside the pool. It had a huge bed, was very well kept and cleaned, and with l'Occitane products in the bathroom (yay!).
We ordered room service once, and were impressed with the food, and also very pleased with the breakfast buffet - although we would wish for the breakfast to be included in the room price for simplicity's sake. If you're not in the mood for the buffet (or looking for something less pricey) there are two great sandwich restaurants open for breakfast literally across the road.
Or fridge in the room didn't work - but that's about all the negative I have to say about the place (and we did get offered to place our drinks in a fridge downstairs!). We absolutely loved this hotel.
