I so wanted to LOVE staying here. This history, the mystery is just so charming. I was put in the Jimmy Stewart room in the old wing for my first shorter visit which was fun in concept but the room was major, meh. Kind of dingy and worn out.
The second time I stayed in the tower room, "the newer side." It SCREAMS 80's. The room, a "suite" was large on a higher floor with a huge corner window but otherwise, again, the room was worn and dingy. For some reason there was no sheer on the window, just the blackouts which meant I was sitting in the dark or blasted by sunlight. And sadly, what was once a property surrounded by the beautiful valley is now on a very busy street. It was loud. The bathroom door basically opened into the toilet. The shower curtain was falling off, the towels were thin. I ended up leaving a day early.
I love the bar and will be back for brunch, but IDT I will ever stay here again. I so wanted to love it, but it needs a major facelift and I don't see that happening. The team on the ground was good. Bar staff great. Worth a drink and a meal but don't recommend staying.
