Certainly not recommended
First, let me start off by saying that I stay at A LOT of US mid tier hotels. I’ve probably stayed at 200-300 hotels extremely similar to this one. I’m a Marriott Rewards Gold Elite member (50+ nights a year) and even though I’m not that loyal to the brand, I’m generally very satisfied with Marriott properties in the US and tend to recommend them to others. However, Residence Inn Pleasanton changed that. When we checked in, we were greeted by a grumpy employee who said that we had been ”upgraded” due to our suite type being sold out. When I asked about the upgrade, it turned out that we had in fact been downgraded to a cheaper, smallwr studio room. He was unable to explain to me how this was an upgrade, and after a couple of minutes of arguing, he checked his computer again and suddenly found the suite I had reserved (the one that were ”sold out” only minutes earlier). Another, albeit very minor, issue was that he made absolutely zero mention or acknowledgement of my Marriott Gold card and I didn’t get any of the listed benefits. When we finally made our way through the enormous property, we found a pretty run-down and also quite dirty suite in need of a remodel (or at least repairs and a good cleaning). For instance, there was rust in the bath tub and some furniture were broken. Also, the water preassure was abysmal and the lights and fan in the bathroom timed out every time I showered (leaving me in total darkness). This is the worst Marriott property I’ve stayed in.
