I travelled with wife and two children, 14 and 17. We looked for a good hotel in a calm area, which Cala Mendia S Port Cristo is. The hotel is rather big with appartements spread out on a rather large area. The breakfast buffé was clearly good. We were a little disappointed though to the standard of the rooms. A malfunction airconditioner (was repaired) with a bad smell, a minimal tv, no internet access, missing towels, would deserve maximum 3 stars, not 4. We needed internet access and had to pay 6 Euros for one hour in the reception area - rather expensive I believe. We brought a laptop with us, but you can use computers in the recption area as well. The beach is very good and close to the hotel (300 m) and situated in a small bay. You have to pay 3,5 Euro for a chair and parasol each. We were recommended the restaurants Albatross - a little more expensive but very good in the north of village Cala Mendia, and Las Palmeras - a little more cheap and simple but good in the south. Avoid the grill bar next to the hotel! We did´nt visit the shows that were performed each evening on the hotel, but made many good excursions on all parts of Mallorca in a rented car. In Cala Mendia you can find several small "supermarkets" close to the hotel. The staff was mostly friendly and speak acceptable English.
