Icon BCN sells itself as a four star hotel, but we would give it a maximum of 2 or maybe 3 stars.
We changed our room immediately when we arrived, the room had a balcony facing the heavily trafficked road, also music and partying were disturbing us during nighttime. This room had staines on the wallpaper, and the shower was not properly sanitised. This hotel really need to renovate its surface layers to add up to a four star standard. Maybe also a more modern looking, and faster elevator...
After talking to the staff several times, we finally got a calm room facing the backyard. It was a bit cleaner, but the hotel room bathrooms really need a look over (we saw 4 bathrooms in total.)
The reason we chose this hotel was the location – and the backyard with a bar and a pool. However, the outside bar was non existing (you need to order all the food and drinks in the lounge bar downstairs) and the pool was constantly occupied by playing children. As adult guests at a "fancy" hotel, you don't expect kids running around the patio, playing in the water, splashing water, screaming... Also, the pool was not heated, the water was freezing cold.
Calm and safe part of the town – yes. But a four star hotel? Nope.
