On arrival, the receptionist worked efficiently and the checking in was fast. I had booked a single room, but was told I had been upgraded to a double room. Which was great, I thought. The room however was in the basement, which made it dark and gloomy, and just outside the window was the laundry facilities, so there were people there a lot of the time and one could not then draw the curtains to try and let some light in. This room ought not to be let out as a guest room. Not a very pleasant experience.
The kitchen facilities were just about basic. There were plates, cups, cutlery, and glasses. However, there was no cutting board and the cutting knives (IKEA) were so blunt they did not even cut through the skin of an apple. Completely useless.
They cleaners come to your room every other day and they actually wash the dishes for you.
Overall, the hotel is not bad at all - it is very central and cleaner than many other hotels in London. But I was given a dark and gloomy room which nobody really wants to stay in. The experience will no doubt be different should you get a room with light.
