Unfortunately, our stay at Ruby Lilly was somewhat of a disappointment. Although it isn’t a cheap hotel and they advertise themselves as a design hotel, the overall feeling we got was of a budget hotel. Even though we opted for a bigger room, it didn’t have a proper bathroom (both the toilet and the shower was behind glass doors) or basic amenities such as a mini bar, iron, shoe horn etc. They also cut down on costs through, for example, the self check-in which takes away the personal touch that usually comes from speaking to a local.
The roof top terrasse we got the impression would have a bar didn’t really have anything. Despite being reachable, there really wasn’t much to there.
As for the bar that they actually had, it was okay but nothing more. It said it was a 24/7 bar, but it closed at 12 am the evening we went there.
Some other issues we had is that one of the towels was covered in a few long black hairs when we checked in and we therefore had to change it. As we only stayed for two nights, we also checked the box for not wanting the room cleaned; but that was done regardless.
On a more positive note, the location for getting around in Munich is pretty good.
