Hotel Royal is located literally 20 meters from the center of Vienna, yet it is not on the main square of St Stephens cathedral, so the hotel is surprisingly quiet given the location.
The hotel is very good in several ways. Rooms are spacious, so easily accomodate a family of four, as ours. The breakfast is also very good. It offers a rich buffet and is served in the hotel restaurant, which is a surprisingly good Italian restaurant worth a recommendation and a visit on its own.
The hotel has one major weakness: the beds are extremely hard. We did not get used to them in four nights. There are no top mattresses. Instrad, you sleep on the bed base, and it is definitely adapted to customers weighing a lot more than 65 kg. A seond minor drawback is that the breakfast room may get crowded. It is served in a restaurant made for seated dinners, not for eating a self-service buffet. Finally, it is worth pointing out that there are no additional facilities. This is a place to sleep and eat, nothing more, nothing less. On the other hand, aside from the hard beds, it is perfect for just that.
