Hotels in need of a shake up...parking was good, reception on arrival was excellent, then it went a little downhill...ITV was showing live FA Cup match , couldn't watch it in the room as there were NO ITV channels available.
We were on a DBB basis, went down for dinner at 20:00, only one other couple present...menus arrived, we asked if there was a wine list....you have to go up to the bar and sort that yourself...off I trot only to have to wait five minutes as the barman needed to go down to the kitchen with some bar orders...there were probably three waiting staff in the restaurant looking after two tables of two yet the lone barman was doing the leg work...the white zinfandel wasn't too bad but the experience soured the first sip. Sunday morning breakfast wasn't too bad; hot buffet with all the main ingredients for a full English available...the weather was great so we'd opted for a second night...Mondays breakfast was a lesser experience...we arrived 15 minutes ahead of the published end time and there was no buffet to be seen, and no mention when we arrived that there was a need to request and order the meal... hearing others complain we cottoned on and I got sorted BUT while we waited a beleaguered waiter was given words of encouragement by my partner, only for him to say he wasn't at his best, having needed two loo breaks already that morning...watching him serve another table without the aid of a serving tray, thumbs uppermost I was glad someone else delivered mine
