Howard Johnson by Wyndham North Virginia Street, Reno, Nevada
Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was far from satisfactory. The property is located in a run-down area that, at one time, was likely nicer and safer. While the affordable rate initially seemed like a good deal, the experience left much to be desired.
We arrived on a Monday evening and were greeted front desk person he was kind and professional. I informed him of my ESA (emotional support animal), and he assured me it was fine. However, things quickly went downhill during our three-night stay.
On one occasion, someone attempted to break into our room by tampering with the window. They damaged the screen and managed to move the window slightly ajar. We discovered this upon returning from a visit to the GSR and Atlantis resorts. While I managed to secure the window lock myself, this incident was unsettling.
Additionally, the behavior of other guests was concerning. Many were openly smoking marijuana, cigarettes, and what appeared to be crack pipes at all hours of the night. Despite my complaints to hotel management, no action was taken to address these issues.
The most disappointing part of my stay occurred during checkout. The day manager, a large white woman, was incredibly rude and hostile when I mentioned my ESA. She raised her voice and claimed the hotel does not allow ESAs, even though it had been approved at check-in. She also threatened to withhold my deposit.I do not recommend this hotel.
